A warm welcome is waiting for you at

Southend Blind Welfare Organisation’s Equipment and Information Centre.

We are here to give help and support to all those suffering with sight loss.

Whether you have a newly diagnosed eye condition or whether you have been managing but in fact ‘struggling’ with gradually deteriorating eyesight

over a longer period of time - We can help !

At the Centre we have a variety of different aids for you to try: lighting,

electronic magnifiers,  reading and writing aids, talking and easy see products (including computer software and mobile phones). We also have equipment

to help with day-to-day tasks. A visit to the Centre will give you the opportunity to

find out about other local and national services which may be of interest to you,

such as: Talking Books and Newspapers,The Big Print Newspaper & TV Guide,

and Audio Description.

The Equipment Loan Scheme is a service we provide to all registered blind

or partially sighted people living in the Southend, Rayleigh, Rochford and

Castle Point area.  The loan scheme enables you to try one of the larger pieces of equipment at home on a trial basis.  In this way you are able to see whether the equipment will be useful for you, before you consider buying your own.

The service is free of charge but in order to be considered for the scheme,

we ask that you visit the Equipment and Information Centre and

try the different equipment first.
